Cell Site Analysis Cell site analysis is a method applied to a mobile telephone’s call data record, supplied by the communications service provide (mobile phone company), to historically trace its geographical movement. When a mobile telephone can be attributed to an individual, the movements of the mobile telephone may help support whereabouts of that individual at a particular time. This has regularly proved to be a powerful tool in both criminal and civil investigations. A call data record details many aspects of billing (chargeable) events when used by an individual. Primarily this includes most incoming and outgoing calls and SMS text messages. With state-of-the-art test equipment, typically used by the communication service provides to optimise and manage their networks, surveys can be conducted at relevant locations and areas to determine if a particular mobile phone mast could have been used on a particular occasion. Using this information, along with the results of any surveys taken, CELLX can produce a detailed report inferring the historical movement of the mobile telephone. Such reports are typically supported by Call Sequence Tables (an overview of the Call Data Record filtered to show the relevant data) and Maps to visually represent the telephones movements.
